The Nightingale
I find the personal stories of people in different situations dealing with the horrible realities of World War II to be fascinating. It is one thing to try to understand the politics, and quite another to understand what the war meant to ordinary people.
This book tells the story of two sisters in occupied France, one in the country and one in Paris, and how the war separates them and challenges their beliefs. A moving, emotional story that conveys deeply the women’s perspective of surviving in occupied France and fighting in the French underground.
