War and Remembrance
A spectacular novel of World War II, taking up where The Winds of War leaves off at the attack on Pearl Harbor. The story weaves together the personal lives of the Henry and Jastrow families with many historical characters and occurrences at Midway, Yalta, Guadalcanal, and El Alamein, as well as the Allied invasions at Normandy and the Philippines.
The 1988 TV miniseries closely follows the book. The 12-episode series, when combined with the 7-episode series of Winds of War, makes for a vivid, more than 30-hour enactment of the two books. Herman Wouk wrote the screenplay.
